Based in Cromwell, with our main office in Christchurch and another depot in Tawa we are a leading contractor in the electrical distribution industry in New Zealand. We’re responsible for constructing and maintaining overhead and underground lines and equipment across these locations. Providing such a critical service is no easy task and we know that to be the best, our people need to be connected, safe, and involved.

The Role

The Leading Hand Live Line Mechanic will oversee the delivery of overhead construction and maintenance works. The successful applicant will be able to work collaboratively with delivery and project teams to ensure a quality customer experience by providing timely and appropriate resourcing for all work. The role will work closely with the Technical Capability team to ensure staff development. You will also provide workforce planning input to the Supervisor, manage assigned minor works projects, and assist with pricing, planning and managing consumable stock as needed. A close attention to supervising with “safety, capability, and performance” in mind will be key.

About you

  • Registered Live Line Mechanic with current practicing license
  • Supervisory experience
  • Significant experience in overhead line construction and maintenance
  • Network operating competencies as deemed appropriate
  • Basic computer skills
  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • Relevant HT License (Class 2, 4)

In addition to the qualities above you’ll bring strong written and oral English skills, an open mind, and confidence to bring new ideas to the table. You’ll also be happy for some work-related travel – sometimes you’ll have to go where you’re needed to maintain and restore networks.
